How reliable is the Chevrolet Camaro? What NHTSA's records show
We don't give the Camaro a reliability score. NHTSA publishes complaint counts but no sales figures, so complaints can't be turned into a rate or compared between models. Here is what's on file for model years 2010 on.

Every model year compared
Complaints rise with how many were sold and how long they've been on the road, so a newer or rarer year will show fewer. Compare years of the Camaro with each other.

Safety recalls
16 recalls cover at least one Camaro model year. Each covers a range of VINs, not every car. Check one car at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
The electric power steering (EPS) assist may fail.
The transmission may become damaged internally and cause the wheels to lock-up.
The driver-side air bag inflator may explode during deployment due to a manufacturing defect.
The plastic "Camaro" emblem, located on the steering wheel air bag cover, may separate during deployment of the frontal driver air bag.
The left or right axle shaft may be missing a retaining ring, which could allow the axle shaft to separate while driving.
Incorrect bolts may have been used at one or more fastening locations to secure the seat belts to the vehicle. If an incorrect bolt was used, the seat belt may not be properly attached to the vehicle.
The fuel pump may be missing a pressure regulator, allowing for over-pressurization of the fuel system.
The electric power steering (EPS) assist system may fail.
The radio may intermittently fail to provide an audio warning when the key has been left in the ignition and the door is opened or when the driver does not fasten their seat belt.
The affected vehicles have front seat-mounted side impact air bags whose inflator may rupture upon its deployment.
In the affected vehicles, the bolt that secures the driver's and passenger's power front seat height adjuster may fall out causing the seat to drop suddenly to the lowest vertical position.
Improperly torqued fasteners may cause the steering intermediate shaft and the steering gear and/or the lower control arm and the lower ball joint to separate.
In the affected vehicles, the driver may accidentally hit the ignition key with their knee, unintentionally knocking the key out of the run position, turning off the engine.
The driver side frontal air bag has a shorting bar which may intermittently contact the air bag terminals.
In the affected vehicles, the required air bag warning label on the sun visor may peel off. Thus, these vehicles fail to comply to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 208 "Occupant Crash Protection.

Common questions
Is the Chevrolet Camaro reliable?
We don't score reliability: NHTSA publishes complaint counts but no sales figures, so complaints can't be turned into a rate or compared between models. What's on file for model years 2010 on: 1,731 owner complaints, 11 warranty extensions and 51 service campaigns Chevrolet filed, and 16 safety recalls. The model years with the most complaints are 2010 (295), 2015 (206), 2011 (194). Whether a known problem was fixed on one car is what its service records show.
What are the most common problems with the Chevrolet Camaro?
Across every model year since 2010, owners' complaints to NHTSA most often name electrical system (28%), transmission and drivetrain (17%), engine (16%). Chevrolet has filed 11 warranty extensions covering the Camaro, listed on this page.
Which Camaro model years have the most complaints?
2010 (295), 2015 (206), 2011 (194). Complaint counts rise with how many were sold and how long they've been on the road, so compare years of the Camaro with each other rather than with other models.
Has Chevrolet extended the warranty on the Camaro?
Yes: other or unspecified (model years 2020–2022); body and structure (model years 2017–2024); electrical system (model years 2019–2020), and 8 more. A dealer does a covered repair for free within the extended time or mileage.
How do I check recalls on a Camaro?
Enter the car's 17-character VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. That answers for one vehicle; the 16 recalls listed here are for the model, and each covers only part of it.
