Corvette · window sticker and factory build sheet by VIN

Corvette window sticker and build sheet by VIN

For a newer Corvette, GM may have the original window sticker on file and serves it free by VIN; we give you the link. For older Corvettes, the factory build sheet lists every RPO code the car was built with: the engine, transmission, axle, paint and every package. It's $7.99, and only charged if GM's record exists.

We confirm the car first, free, and show GM's free sticker link if it has one, then you decide.

$7.99 for the full factory build sheet: paint, trim, transmission and every factory option. No account needed, and you only pay if we hold one for your vehicle.

The VIN is at the base of the windshield on the driver's side, on the door-jamb sticker, and on the title, registration and insurance card.

How do I get a Corvette window sticker by VIN?

It depends on the year. GM serves the original window sticker free by VIN for 2021 and newer, most reliably 2023 on. For older Corvettes there's no free original online: the factory build sheet gives you the same equipment as RPO codes, without the prices, and the National Corvette Museum sells copies of the original paperwork for many cars built at Bowling Green.

Free first: GM's original sticker for newer Corvettes

GM keeps the original window sticker for many recent vehicles and serves it as a PDF by VIN, prices and options included. In our tests it came back for all 17 of the 2023-to-2025 GM vehicles we tried and the one 2022, for one of two 2021s, and for none of the ten from 2016 to 2020. Enter the VIN to try it before you buy anything.

We aren't affiliated with any manufacturer. The link opens the maker's own document; we never see, store or change it.

What the Corvette build sheet shows

GM identifies every factory option with a three-character Regular Production Option (RPO) code: the engine, the transmission, the axle ratio, the paint, the interior and each package. On a Corvette those codes settle the questions that move its value, such as whether the car left the factory with the Z51 performance package or had the parts added later.

GM records every model the same way. These are real rows from a GM build sheet, out of 115 codes:

G80
Axle, rear, Positraction, limited slip
KNP
Cooling system, transmission, heavy duty
AKO
Window type, privacy glass
BTV
Remote engine start
KI4
Electrical receptacle, accessory 110 volt
IO6
Infotainment, uplevel, with embedded navigation
From a real 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 build sheet, codes as GM prints them. GM uses the same code system on the Corvette.

GM has reused some codes over the decades, so a description can come from an older use of the same code. Where one surprises you, trust the code; the GM RPO codes page explains, and your report repeats the note.

Which Corvettes it works for

We tested GM build sheets on real US vehicles before selling them. Every Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac from model years 2016 to 2020 came back, 8 of 8, with 98 to 159 codes each; one of two 2021s did, and none of the three from 2022 and 2023. We haven't tested a Corvette yet, or a GM vehicle older than 2016.

  • C8 (2020 on): for a 2021 or newer car, try GM's free sticker first, above. A 2020 car, or one GM has no sticker for, is one for the build sheet, and you're only charged if it exists.
  • C7 (2014 to 2019) and C6 (2005 to 2013): the build sheet is the record to try. GM's free sticker didn't reach back that far in our tests.
  • C5 (1997 to 2004) and older: GM's digital record may not reach back this far. Trying costs nothing if it isn't there; the museum below is the other route.

Classic Corvettes and the National Corvette Museum

Corvette production moved from St. Louis to Bowling Green, Kentucky, in June 1981. The National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green sells copies of build sheets and window stickers from its archive for Corvettes built there. They're copies of the plant's paperwork rather than GM's digital record, the price is the museum's, and not every car's papers are on file; ask its Library & Archives with the VIN.

We aren't affiliated with the museum or with GM.

Where the codes are on the car

GM prints the RPO codes, the paint code among them, on its Service Parts Identification label. On many C5 and C6 Corvettes it's inside the glovebox. From the 2018 model year GM also prints a QR code on the certification label, which on a Corvette is on the driver's door; GM says it carries the paint code but not every RPO code. A label that has faded, peeled or gone is the usual reason owners look for the build sheet.

More on finding the color: paint code by VIN.

Where to find the VIN

  • Through the windshield, at the bottom corner on the driver's side.
  • On the sticker inside the driver's door jamb.
  • On the title, the registration card and the insurance ID card.

A VIN always has 17 characters and never contains the letters I, O or Q.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get a Corvette window sticker by VIN for free?

For many newer Corvettes, yes. GM serves the original window sticker as a PDF by VIN for 2021 and newer, most reliably 2023 on, and the lookup on this page builds the link; nothing is sent to us. In our tests it came back for nearly every 2022-and-newer GM vehicle and for none from 2016 to 2020, so for an older Corvette there's no free original online.

What's the difference between a Corvette window sticker and a build sheet?

The window sticker is the label printed for the dealer when the car was new: the options with their prices, the MSRP and the EPA fuel economy figures. The build sheet is GM's production record for the same VIN: every RPO code with a description, including the paint and the interior, but no prices.

Will the build sheet show my Corvette's paint code?

GM records the exterior paint as an RPO code, so on the GM sheets we've seen it appears with the rest of the codes, and the sheet names the factory color. On older vehicles a maker sometimes recorded only the color name. We show exactly what GM recorded and never fill in a code.

Does it work for a C5, C6, C7 or C8?

We haven't tested a Corvette yet. GM build sheets came back for every 2016-to-2020 GM vehicle we tried and for none of the 2022 and 2023 ones, so a C7 or an early C8 is the likeliest to have one, while for a 2022-or-newer car GM's free sticker is the better bet. Before you pay we confirm the car from its VIN, free, and if GM's record isn't on file you pay nothing.

How much does the Corvette build sheet cost?

$7.99 per car, with no account. The amount is only authorized on your card and taken once the build sheet arrives. If GM's record isn't on file, the authorization is released and you pay nothing.

Is this the same as the National Corvette Museum's build sheet?

No. The museum sells copies of the Bowling Green plant's own paperwork from its archive, at its own price. Ours is GM's digital record of the options for the VIN, with a description for each code, by email within minutes. Either one shows how the car left the factory.

Where is the VIN on a Corvette?

At the base of the windshield on the driver's side, on the label in the driver's door or door jamb, and on the title, the registration card and the insurance ID card. It always has 17 characters.
